Hello, my human friends. It's Oreo, and I hope everyone has had a happy holiday season. This is my first Christmas with my new family, and it sure is quite an event. The humans in my house have put up this tree with many lights on it. You might say it's brighter than the other lights they turn on in the house. I tried jumping into the tree to investigate. But all of the humans were discouraging such an endeavor. Therefore, prowling under the tree was my only option, and even then, I was frowned upon from going under there.
Since I last appeared on this site, I've made more friends at home and new toys to chase around and play with. First, there's Piper, a sociable baby bird that flaps its wings constantly. Piper is a wonderful companion for me when my humans are out of the house. I could play with her all the time. My master keeps her cooped up in the closet at night though. I guess Piper woke him up one night and he didn't like his sleep being interrupted. If I didn’t know any better, I'd say his favorite hobby with me is snuggling in his bed and petting me.
I'm not complaining though. I can always go for some nice massaging, especially around my chest. Now that's really neat. I don't need to sleep as much as my master does. But it's nice to keep each other warm at night, especially when it's been as cold as it has. Whenever I'm in the mood to play more at night, one of my best bets is this moving mouse. Yes, it moves for a little bit on a hard surface as seen by the video below. But I like the mouse better when it isn't moving. I love tossing that fellow around for target practice. Yay!
Another new friend I've made, as one of my official Christmas presents, is a canary in a cage. A real-life Tweety if you will. There's something about a bird tweeting in a cage that's both captivating and soothing all at the same time. Needless to say, when my master turns the sound on, my attention has been captured. I don't know if I can get the canary to come out of its cage though. I bet I can do it if I tried, but my master also seems to find its natural lullaby soothing, too. You might say we've both made a friend.
Lastly, we have a spinning butterfly. I think the last video speaks for itself here. The butterfly goes around in circles and I reap the benefits of stopping it every time it passes me. My master informs me his prediction of it having a short shelf life was right. He said the butterfly fell off and won't come back on, no matter how hard he tries. He still has it though because he knows how much I like it. I always love new toys to play with. Let's see if 2025 gives me more new contraptions to try out. Oreo wishes you all happy times! Cheers!
